“In anger, you will find both ferocity and comfort, vulnerability and hurt. Anger is the expression of hope.”
Soraya Chemaly, Rage Becomes Her
Words that Ellie has written...
What is blue?
What is naturally blue?
I am feeling blue.
They named her blue
I say blue.
Yet you say green or purple.
I fly through the heights of the colour blue and yet I can sink so deeply down into its depth and be kept in its darkness
She is blue through and through.
The colour of the sky reflected in ripple of the ocean
A flicker of blue in a flame
In the vein of the Earth
A blue so soft she eases my skin

My body is beyond tired of holding the history of pain and my mothers pain, and her mothers pain. My sister’s, my grandmother’s, my daughter’s, my aunt’s, my girlfriends. The woman I saw on the news, read about on social media. The woman I saw on the poster near the bus stop. The woman whose eyes I met for a brief second walking home at night. The woman who asked me for money on the train. The woman who held in tears as she was shouted at on the street. My best friend as I held her whilst she cried onto my shoulder and into my heart.
-------
I am exhausted.
I am frustrated.
I am vulnerable.
I am ashamed.
I am grieving.
I am guilt ridden.
I am angry.
